Recently students at Akiba School were thrilled to welcome friends from Watumull Children for an interactive day of life lessons.
Ninety boys and 110 teen girls attended the sessions at Akiba and we had a beautiful day together singing , teaching, engaging in small group discussions and sharing whole group presentations.
Along with snacks of chai and mandazi , the teens were fed lunch and given gifts. Each girl received a Days For Girls kit that contained underwear and reusable sanitary pads. Our goal from these workshops is to keep kids in school, to prevent teen pregnancy and diseases, and to encourage healthy living.
Teachers, pastors, and trained counselors shared with the boys and girls and encouraged questions and discussion on important issues facing Kenyan youth.
Small group discussions enabled students to interact more openly with their peers, share concerns, and ask questions alongside Christian counselors.
Akiba extends its thanks to The Watumull Family Children’s Fund whose mission it is to come alongside of schools in poverty. Their support made these sessions possible.
